Ecological Values
Here are the ecological values I embrace and expect all Syncro Safari participants to support.
From the organization dedicated to responsible use of the outdoors,
"tread lightly!" is the following:
T - travel and recreate with minimum impact
R - respect the environment and the rights of others
E - educate yourself, plan before you go
A - allow for future use of the outdoors, leave it better than you found it
D - discover the rewards of responsible recreation
For more information on tread lightly! see: www.treadlightly.org
Also, from the Boy Scouts of America , the Outdoor Code:
"As an American I will do my best to -
Be clean in my outdoor manners.
Be careful with fire.
Be considerate in the outdoors.
and
Be conservation minded."
I will treat the outdoors as a heritage. I will take care of it for myself and others. I will keep my trash and garbage out lakes, streams, fields, woods, and roadways.
I will prevent wildfire. I will build my fires only where they are appropriate. When I have finished using a fire, I will make sure it is cold-out. I will leave a clean fire ring, or remove all evidence of my fire.
I will treat public and private property with respect. I will use low-impact methods of hiking and camping.
I will learn how to practice good conservation of soil, waters, forests, minerals, grasslands, wildlife and energy. I will urge others to do the same.
As a tread lightly! charter member and a volunteer leader in Boy Scouts of America , I am committed to protecting our environment. If you feel that these ecological values give you even a small concern, then please don't attend a Syncro Safari event.
